About Me

My name is Alex, and I am on a quest to run and complete a 10km race in May 2014. I am presently unfit, overweight and my get up and go has got up and gone. Why? Many reasons…

I want to be fitter so that I can play football with my son.
I want to be fitter to increase my overall health.
I want to be able to do those things that presently make me huff and puff.
I want to prove that I can do it.
I want to make my family proud.

There are other reasons, and each time I think about the training to come, I think up a new reason to do it.

I know it is hard, I know I will ache, be grouchy, embarrass myself and create a lot of laundry, but I don’t care.

  1. You have made a great choice with this quest Alex. I wish you good luck. I did exactly the same thing at the start of 2011 – from unfit and overweight to a 10k in 6 months. Be careful though, it gets addictive! Two and half years on I have done several half-marathons, The London Marathon, several triathlons and I am training to do a half-ironman tri later in the year.

    1. Thanks! I do get a feeling that I may get that way. A lot of friends and colleagues have said exactly the same! I know that for now, if I hit my target, then all the better, but even if I don’t, my progress will make such a difference!
